Baltic District Heating Innovation Forum 2025

On 6th November 2025, the Baltic District Heating Innovation Forum 2025 was hosted by Instytut Maszyn Przepływowych im. Roberta Szewalskirgo Polskiej Akademii Nauk in Gdańsk, in collaboration with SweHeat and Cooling, hosted a meeting of experts and innovators from Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the future of district heating systems in the Baltic Sea Region.

The event brought together over 70 participants onsite and more than 40 online, representing mainly district heating companies, as well as municipalities and academia, a diverse group united by a shared commitment to advancing sustainable heating solutions.

During the course of the day, a variety of perspectives and solutions in terms of DH transition were explored, including digitalization, predictive maintenance, waste heat recovery, customer integration and demand-side flexibility.

Speakers and companies, including FV Sverige AB, Forum Energii, Oresundskraft, Alfa Laval, NODA Intelligent Systems, Energy Opticon AB and SWEP INTERNATIONAL AB, shared insights and best practices.

This cross-project event, which was organised in collaboration with the DecarbonDHS, BES (Interreg South Baltic Programme), Energy Equilibrium (Interreg Baltic Sea Region) and DeCrises projects (Horizon Europe), demonstrated the value of collaboration across EU initiatives in fostering innovation and enhancing shared understanding.
